VICTIM: Councillor Moremi

Village Chief Magistrate Batho Kgerethwa has granted bail to Collen Dial Mogotsi who was arrested on suspicions that he threatened to kill his Gaborone West Councillor girlfriend.

The 43-year-old ex-soldier, Mogotsi from Gabane is facing one count of threat to kill the Botswana Democratic Party Councillor (BDP) Doris Khukhi Moremi.

It is alleged that the accused person had gone to sprinkle muti at the farm, which he co-owns with Moremi.

Allegations are that the herdsman informed the councillor of the ritual perfumed by her boyfriend and it led to a heated argument in which Mogotsi uttered the words, ‘I will kill you.’

State Prosecutor Inspector Alexander Phale told court that their investigations on the matter were almost complete, therefore they were not opposing bail.

He proposed that the accused be granted bail on conditions that he bound himself with P5000, and reported to Gabane Police Station fortnightly.

OUT ON BAIL: Mogotsi

He also proposed that Mogotsi show up in court when required to do so, not commit similar offence whilst on bail and not interfere with the police investigations.

Magistrate Kgerethwa agreed with prosecution on their proposed conditions.

She ordered that the accused be granted bail and be back in court on the 20th of October for mention.
