Like most sectors, the entertainment industry has been hard hit by Covid-19 restrictions, with festivals and gigs canceled/postponed since mid-March.
Artists have found it difficult to make ends meet, with many calling on radio and television stations to increase their local content.
Although the cry bore mixed results, Gilbert Promotions has taken it upon themselves to hold an awards ceremony at the end of the year to thank those who supported local content.
Although the details were sketchy at the time of going to press, Big Weekend has been informed the event will feature a number of categories, including Member of Parliament who advocates for Local Content, Best Print Media, and Television which supports local content.
“We want to thank those who have been in support of us during such trying times but more details will come out soon,” explained Gilbert ‘PP’ Seagile of Gilbert Promotions.
