Suspected killer boyfriend demands to see woman’s dead body
The man accused of a gruesome murder that left Tlokweng residents reeling in shock and social media users traumatised, Victor Koolopile, has been arraigned in court.
The 29-year-old truck driver from Tobane allegedly butchered his girlfriend and posted her bloody and lifeless body on social media two weeks ago.
Looking confused, disorientated and lonely during his court appearance last Wednesday, Koolopile stood facing a single count of the murder of Masego Gladys Sepotoke.
Sepotoke was killed at her rented home in Tlokweng, stabbed to death allegedly by Koolopile, after an argument.
The accused killer boyfriend then posted a picture of himself on Facebook half-naked and standing next to the deceased’s dead body, which was lying in a pool of blood, with a caption, “Ke bolaile motho (I killed a person).”
The picture sent shock waves throughout the entire nation and especially to Sepotoke’s parents and relatives, who learned of her brutal murder through the Facebook post.
In court, Police prosecutor, Elsie Kgaodi, said that they wished to keep the man behind bars for his own safety.
“People out here are still angry about the post. It is trending on social media,” Kgaodi told the court.
The Police further argued that the man needed to be kept in custody because he had attempted suicide.
“The accused person is not yet stable. He has made several attempts to harm himself. He needs to be at a place where he will be safe,” the police prosecutor told the court.
Given a chance to speak, the accused said he had no recollection of the heinous crime.
“I don’t know what happened. I passed out and woke up in a hospital bed; I could not and still do not believe what I am accused of. I am asking the court to direct the Police to show me the body of the person I am accused of killing. I need to see her body because I don’t know what happened,” Koolopile pleaded with the court.
The case returns to court on October 13th when the Investigating Officer (IO) will testify. Meanwhile, Koolopile shall remain behind bars as funeral proceedings of the slain woman continue.
It’s a wise decision to keep him behind bars otherwise he won’t survive the nation.whether they kill him or not.
If he survives outside the bars he gonna live a very tormenting life and kill himself or end up loosing his mind
so you saying he doesnt know anything but he was able to remember his phone password , and was able to turn on a selfie camera then took “pictures” him naked ……what did he do to her before killing her ….. when is the law going to protect the girl child ….funny how you so worried about his insanity yet he left a young 5 year old motherless.
