GUC commended for advancing skills development

Gaborone University College of Law (GUC) continues its steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of education for its students, exemplified by the inauguration of a state-of-the-art library and cutting-edge science facility at its Broadhurst campus in Gaborone.

These progressive additions have garnered praise for their role in fostering skills development within the country.

At the recent official unveiling of the library and science laboratories in Gaborone last Thursday, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane underscored the significance of skills development as a paramount objective of the Botswana Government.

He recognized the instrumental contribution of private tertiary institutions in elevating the education, training, and skills sectors, furthering the nation’s growth.

Tsogwane commended GUC for its enduring efforts in cultivating knowledge, generating employment opportunities, and fostering community advancement.

He expressed the government’s satisfaction with the collaborative engagement of both private and public entities in supporting learners across accredited higher education institutions through funding initiatives.

“GUC continues to contribute significantly to knowledge development, job creation and community development. Therefore, as the government, we are happy with the participation of both private and public institutions through funding of learners in all accredited higher education institutions, ” said Tsogwane further applauding the institution for attaining ISO 9001 certification which serves as an assurance that they are offering international standard education services.

Tsogwane went on to encourage educational institutions to meticulously construct curricula that align with the demands of the economy.

He stressed the importance of imparting practical skills that resonate with the prevailing job market requirements.

Additionally, he urged institutions to integrate life skills into their teachings, extending beyond academic pursuits.

In the digital age, he highlighted the indispensable role of the internet and libraries in facilitating these skill acquisitions, advocating for their optimal utilization.
