A farm worker tragically died while his colleague survived with chest injuries after their employer accidentally ran them over with his bakkie on a bushy farm road.

The duo had allegedly taken a nap on the road at Tshwaanyaneng cattle post near Goodhope when the freak accident occurred.

It is alleged that the 72-year-old man had employed the two men, both from Selokolela village, to assist him in his farm and later on after they finished their work, they decided to rest on the road.

Unaware that his employees were sleeping on the grass covered road, the farmer who was on his way to collect the duo with his Toyota Hilux, ran over the two men, accidentally crushing one of them to death.

The 41-year-old deceased who was later certified dead at Goodhope Primary Hospital had suffered a knock to the head while the other 35-year-old man sustained injuries on the chest.

Goodhope Station Commander, Superintendent Batshwari Gaobatlelwe confirmed the fatal road accident to The Voice Online.

He said the deceased is still at the mortuary awaiting post-mortem likely to be conducted today (Wednesday) while the other man is still admitted at the hospital.
