A convicted thief who was repatriated from a South African jail to stand trial for motor vehicle theft was arraigned in court on Thursday.

Appearing before Acting Magistrate Batho Kgerethwa, Ndombi Selaolo, 33, complained that prosecution was not complying with extradition terms.

Selaolo from Moshupa was extradited in March from Potchefstroom South Africa where she served 6 years in prison for possession of stolen goods, car theft and escaping from lawful custody.

It is alleged that on or about October 02, 2012 at or near Block 9 in Gaborone Selaolo stole a motor vehicle being a dark green Honda CRV bearing registration numbers B 721 ATS valued at P40 000, being the property of Octavious Gora, with the intent to permanently deprive Gora of the vehicle.

She has since pleaded not guilty to the offence.

It is alleged that Gora was Selaolo’s boyfriend at the time of the offence.

Allegations are that she took the car without Gora’s consent and he opened the theft case against her after his wife had demanded answers on the missing car.

Selaolo allegedly dumped the car at another boyfriend’s house and stole his car, which she used to cross the border into South Africa.

In her first mention on the 17th of March, Selaolo was reported to Central Police station for offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace.

She went viral on social media insulting photojournalists who took her pictures outside court.

The case was reported by the police officer Detective Molobe who escorted her to court.

During her Thursday appearance, Selaolo said she was not happy with the way prosecution handled her matter.

She said the extradition terms were flouted, so she demanded a meeting with the magistrate.

However Magistrate Kgerethwa advised Selaolo to inform her lawyer about her displeasure so that he could address court on the terms she was referring to in the next mention.

She will be back in court on September, 24th for mention.
