Police have confirmed the death of a 17-year-old boy who was found hanging from a Motlopi tree at Basarwa lands near Thamaga village.
According to the police the deceased who originates from Takatokwane village in Kweneng west, left home last year December visiting relatives at Basarwa lands.
The boy who was allegedly staying alone at his aunt’s farm, was last seen by his neighbour last Thursday morning while passing by her place.
Later on Friday morning when the neighbour realised that the boy had spent the night away from home, she traced his footmarks which led her to his aunt’s field where she saw him hanging from a tree and reported the matter to the police.
Thamaga police station commander, Superintendent Moses Kwarare, confirmed that the boy used a bag string to hang himself, noting that they were still clueless about what could have driven the boy to end his life since he did not leave any suicide note.
The deceased lifeless body is still at Thamaga Primary Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
