*Pearl Thusi and DJ Sway to host the 8th YAMAs
*This year’s theme is DRIP
In case you have’t, you better get on with rummaging through that wardrobe for that ‘fit check’ because the 8th Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) are here!
Molapo Showcase Piazza is the place to be this Saturday 11th November for what is dubbed the most sensational night of the year-a night of glitz, glamour and a star-studded lineup.
If you had missed the memo: this year, the YAMAs are doing things a little bit differently, as we swap the tuxes and evening gowns for what the Gen-Z’s like to call ‘drip’ aka swag!
The YAMAs invite everyone to come clad in whatever makes them feel fashionable, sexy and confident.
Be it tracksuits, jeans, biker shots, mini-skirts-whatever best describes your unique sense of style.
Two weeks ago, Yarona FM revealed in a statement, that renowned Yarona FM afternoon drive-time presenter DJ Sway, and South African actress and model Pearl Thusi, will steer the evening’s festivities.
“We have full confidence that the experience this dynamic duo have amassed in hosting events of this magnitude will see them deliver a spectacular and memorable performance on awards night,” said the station’s General Manager Owen Rampha.
The nominees were launched in August, with Chef Gustos leading the pack with a total of seven nominations for his esteemed collaboration with Priscilla K on the hit song “Away”.
Han C and DJ Ngwazi also made a mark, bagging five nominations each.
The voting lines officially closed last week Tuesday, and now we wait until Saturday to find out who the big winners will be.
In addition to awarding music excellence, Yarona FM prides itself in showcasing the best of Botswana talent through the awards ceremony.
Rampha stated that, “The star studded lineup includes exceptional live onstage performances by Priscilla K, Chef Gustos, Han C, Courtney, Rockefeller, KX Legit and Khoisan. Additionally, prepare to be enthralled by the unmissable performance of the KTM Choir which will be honoring a special invitation, on the 8th YAMAs stage.”
The 8th YAMAs are proudly sponsored by Mascom Wireless, Okavango Diamond Company, Taurus and St Louis Lager which is a flagship of Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL).
Tickets are priced at P200 (standard), P350 for the Golden Circle, P1,500 for VIP, and P5,000 for the VVIP ticket which admits two.
Mascom users can however secure a standard ticket for only P175 via the Myzaka platform.
