A Molepolole man facing multiple charges, including the triple murder of his family members and numerous stock theft offences has told the court that an investigating officer handling his case died while in possession of his property and money.
Tebogo Ramantosha (32) told Molepolole Principal Magistrate, Solomon Setshedi, when appearing for mention in a stock theft case that the police have since confiscated his P9 650 cash, shoes and an electric cooler box.
“The prosecution earlier informed me that I would get my property after being released from prison. Now I’m being told that the police officer handling my case is dead. All these cases are wasting my time because even the substantive prosecutor fails to attend court sessions. I’m concerned about prosecution failing a Motswana citizen who doesn’t have anything. I’m appearing before court without progress and that’s wasting my time,” said the seemingly distressed Ramantosha.
Principal Magistrate Setshedi advised him of his right to lodge a formal complaint before Mogoditshane police which he said he did and was told investigations were still underway.
Ramantosha is on bail for all his five cases including the three cases of the gruesome murder of his parents and younger brother.
Ramantosha and three others Mmoloki Boniface Tlhaelo, 39, Poloko Segwagwa, 30, and Cornelious Saidoo, 40, are accused of the massacre that sent shockwaves across the country on 21st June, 2018 when they allegedly killed Ramantosha’s parents – Patrick Ramantosha, 55, Boingotlo Ramantosha, 47, and his young brother, 22-year-old Keabetswe Ramantosha.
In the stock theft charges, Ramantosha and Motlakapula Sannawane, 41, of Ralebakeng ward, Letlhakeng are accused of stealing two donkeys valued at P1, 400 on September 6th, 2022, at Topielebedi lands near Letlhakeng.
In a separate stock theft matter, Ramantosha, Tsaboswane Seane aged 50, together with 57-year-old Olebeng Galetshiphe are accused of stealing five cows valued at P25, 000.00 on March 23rd, 2021 at Letlhakeng village.
Ramantosha will appear for mention for the two stock theft cases on September 7th, 2023 while trial dates for the murder cases is scheduled for 6 to 10 November 2023.
