A Molepolole Magistrates Court has remanded in custody a man who allegedly assaulted and hurled profanities at his girlfriend in front of her kids, blaming her for bad sex.
Kagiso Walehata, 40, is said to have threatened to kill his girlfriend, Botsalo Gaolathe, 34, with an axe after having sex with her, claiming it was not pleasant as usual.
The accused driver who appeared before court on Thursday, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, is said to have kicked the woman in the face and hit her head against the wall.
The court heard that on the day of the incident, Walehata arrived at Gaolatlhe’s house at Serinane village at around 2am and demanded for sex.
Gaolatlhe’s children who were sleeping in the other room later woke up to screams for help as Walehata was assaulting their mother, accusing her of sleeping with a man with a bigger penis.
It is alleged that Gaolatlhe managed to escape while Walehata was still looking for the axe and he chased her till she found refuse at the neighbours house.
Fearing for her life Gaolatlhe slept at the neighbour’s yard and later reported the matter to the police.
Chief Magistrate Gaseitsewe Tonoki dismissed Walehata’s bail application noting that it will be determined after the investigating officer took a stand to address the court if he has a strong case in the second count.
Walehata was remanded in custody till June 21st, 2023 and the court has ordered the investigating officer to be available.
