Four years after making its debut, the ‘Trade Up North Mining, Manufacturing and Construction’ exhibition is scheduled to return in 2022.

Just like in 2018, the expo, which was originally meant to be a biennial event, will be held in Francistown and runs from 5-6 April.

The brains behind the initiative, Vuyiswa Mojela told Voice Money that the expo presents the latest technologies, equipment and services in the mining industry.

The event is also meant to introduce investment opportunities in Botswana for mining, manufacturing and construction companies.

“It will help Botswana link up with a broad spectrum of countries and create a broad knowledge platform in minerals development hence groom better Botswana Mining and Construction Sectors. We are aiming at everyone who works in mining, manufacturing and construction sectors,” she explained.

Mojela plans to position Trade Up North as the largest platform in the north of Botswana, noting this is where most of the country’s mines are located, and where much exploration and construction takes place.

“This is a chance for people working in these industries to meet up and make new contacts, technology transfers and business linkages for identifying potential investors to boost collaboration and international trade in the minerals development and construction sectors,” said the event organiser.

She noted the exhibition brings companies closer to customers, giving them a platform to showcase what they can offer.

“It’s an opportunity for contractors and buyers to meet with stakeholders in a pleasant setting. It also offers an opportunity to reach both current and potential customers in a specific region with their products,” she highlighted.

According to Mojela although the north of Botswana is a hub for mining and construction, because of its vast size, it can be both time consuming and expensive to cover.

“Trade Up North is unique in the way it brings together a large number of customers from one single region, which facilitates sales work,” she stressed.

The expo is expected to be graced by companies from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, and Botswana.
