‘Disappointing sex’ leads to horror attack
The ongoing ‘16 Days of Activism against GBV’ will mean little to Kango Makhaya, who is currently lying in a hospital bed nursing a mutilated vagina.
The 34-year-old’s longtime boyfriend allegedly ripped out her clitoris after sex because he suspected she was cheating on him.
The accused, Lefatshe Xhii, 45, appeared before Molepolole Magistrates Court last Thursday charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
Speaking to The Voice after his short arraignment, moments before he was whisked off to prison, the diminutive Takatokwane man revealed he met Makhaya in 2000.
Xhii did not deny injuring the mother of his eight children, explaining he acted out of jealousy having spotted his longtime lover being ‘over-friendly’ with another man earlier in the day.
“I earlier on caught my girlfriend with the man holding her by her waist. Later when I asked for sex, as I had two days without making love, while in the act I noted it was not as sweet as I knew it. That’s when I realised she was used by another man. That annoyed me and I grabbed her private parts and pulled her,” stated the mild-mannered Xhii, speaking with the air of a man discussing the weather.
The Voice has since learnt that Makhaya, after spending the night with Xhii, was rescued the following morning by an elderly neighbour.
The old woman’s suspicions were reportedly aroused by Xhii’s shifty behaviour when she enquired about Makhaya’s whereabouts.
“The suspect had gone to her house to get matches. When the old woman got his bitter response, she became suspicious that there might be something wrong. She then followed him home where she was shocked to find the woman sleeping inside the house talking with a weak, failing voice while trying to greet her,” revealed a source.
The elderly lady then organised a donkey cart to transport the victim to Takatokwane clinic.
It is said that by the time she arrived at the clinic, the patient’s private parts had swollen to the size of a fist.
The doctor examining her immediately contacted the police before hastily referring Makhaya to Scottish Livingstone Hospital, where she remains admitted.
Although Xhii was charged with ABH, the charges could change depending on the doctors’ report.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Patrick Senatla requested the suspect’s plea be reserved as investigations were still ongoing.
“The matter involves lovers who are staying together and the victim is still hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries in her private parts,” explained Senatla, successfully pleading for the accused’s remand.
Xhii will remain locked up until his next court appearance, set for 14 December – four days after the current GBV crusade comes to an end!
