Two Gowe CJSS girls fall pregnant

Police in Shakawe are investigating similar cases of defilement, which left two Gowe Junior Secondary School students pregnant.

Confirming the investigations to The Voice in a brief interview this week, Shakawe Station Commander, Keitshokile Kebodiretswe revealed, “The first case, involving a 17-year-old girl doing her Form 3, was reported by the social worker.

“The young girl, who is now five months pregnant, is from Mabudutsa ward in Xakao village. It was reported that she was impregnated by a 28-year-old unemployed man from the same ward.”

The police boss added it is suspected the two have been in a relationship since 2018.

“The case is still under investigations and the suspect will soon be arraigned before court,” he continued.

As for the second case, Kebodiretswe said it was reported to his station last Wednesday by the complainant’s father.

“He reported that his 16-year-old daughter, who is a Form 1 student at Gowe CJSS, has been impregnated by a man aged between 25 and 30. The victim is six months pregnant and the suspect is on the run,” said the Station Commander, adding police are aware that some unemployed men roam the streets and take advantage of young schoolgirls.

He urged parents to warn their children to resist such advances.

Gowe CJSS is between Xaxao and Xauxwi village.
