Business Botswana sign agreement with HRDC
Business Botswana and the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) recently signed a potentially game-changing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
It is hoped the move will prove to be a defining, extremely productive movement for the private sector.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Business Botswana Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Norman Moleele explained the agreement aims to provide a collaborative framework to identify mechanisms for aligning organisational activities, information, and resource sharing.
“The Business Sector, through Business Botswana, has been instrumental in improving the doing business and competitive environments and we believe having HRDC is exactly what the private sector needs to be an engine of growth in the economy,” highlighted Moleele.
He noted both Business Botswana and HRDC recognise the importance and value that would result from such collaboration and thus they agreed to formalize their relationship.
The Business Botswana leader further revealed the organisations have signed numerous agreements with other enterprises, stressing such agreements are all being acted on.
“Gone are the days when documents were signed and policies were beautifully crafted and not implemented,” pointed out Moleele, adding that a monitoring and evaluation team will be set up to oversee the implementation of the agreement.
For his part, HRDC Acting CEO, Meshack Tafa said the Council has been working closely with Business Botswana to enhance professional development that is availed through the provision of short-term courses which have since been migrated from Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA).
“HRDC is developing a comprehensive framework to guide recognition Non-Credit Bearing Short Courses. Business Botswana has since provided advice by assisting invalidating the framework as subject specialists,” said Tafa.
