WELL-OFF: Bona and Chikore on their wedding day

The jaw-dropping riches of a different world

Bona Mugabe’s divorce of husband Simba Chikore has exposed just how greedy and filthy rich they are.

Although it was known the couple had a huge portfolio of assets, considering Bona is the daughter of the late former leader, Robert Mugabe, many seem shocked about the extent of their wealth. Some are adamant most of the fortune is the proceeds from the looting by the Mugabes.

In response to divorce papers filed by Bona, Chikore has listed: 21 farms, more than 25 upmarket residential properties in Harare and Dubai, several companies, movable properties and cash running into millions of US dollars that he says the two must share equally.

He also listed at least 16 top of the range vehicles that they own, which he also says must split between the two.

According to Chikore, he is claiming what the couple acquired during the subsistence of their union and not what Bona owned before.

“The property claimed is just a drop in the ocean, if it is to be compared to what belongs to Bona,” Chikore is quoted as saying.

If that is the case, then Bona is certainly stinking rich and so is her family, which seems to have taken looting to obscene levels during Mugabe’s 30 years in power.

These are some of the things that make people angry even though they cannot do much about it in fear of the consequences.

Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa recently urged Zimbos to stop saying negative things about Zimbabwe and its leaders as such talk tarnishes the country’s image.

I guess what makes people upset when looking or thinking about the pathetic economic and social situation is knowing that it all boils down to corruption and looting by our leaders for their personal benefit.

Zimbabwe could be amongst the biggest economies in Africa had it not been for the terrible decisions, bad policies, greed and corruption by the former and current regime.

Talking of the current regime, they really sold the masses a dummy as they thought change had come to Zimbabwe.

Remember how thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate the ousting of Mugabe, believing it was the dawn of a new era pregnant with endless opportunities.
Little did they know that the coup had nothing to do with making Zimbabwe a better place for all of us!

Ever since he came into power, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has not done any different from his predecessor. It has all been about looting and sitting pretty for those at the top while the masses feed on crumbs that fall from their tables.

The recent Gold Mafia expose showed just how much Zimbabwe was being plundered by a few individuals, hell bent on lining pockets and not the least bit bothered about the welfare of the average Zimbo on the street.
