A woman who was extradited from a South African jail to stand trial for motor vehicle theft is set to spend Christmas Day in jail after court denied her bail this week.
The 33-year-old Ndombi Nono Selaolo of Moshupa village was returned last March from Potchefstroom South Africa where she had already served six years in prison for possession of stolen goods, car theft and escaping from lawful custody.
It is alleged that on or about the 2nd of October 2012 at or near Block 9 in Gaborone Selaolo commonly known as Ndombi Abouelela stole a dark green Honda CRV bearing registration numbers B 721 ATS valued at P40 000, belonging to Octavious Gora, with the intent to permanently deprive Gora of the vehicle.
It is alleged that Gora was Selaolo’s boyfriend at the time of the offence.
Allegations are that the accused took the car without Gora’s consent and he subsequently opened the theft case against her because his wife demanded answers concerning the missing car.
The accused person allegedly dumped the car at another boyfriend’s house and stole his car, which she then used to cross the border into South Africa.
This woman is creative, maybe she must be released and sent back to Botswana or else get married here to assume the citizenship of the country. She will represent women in terms of car theft. She is a shero indeed.
