Two suspects believed to have murdered a teacher at Khonkhwa Primary School in Ngwaketse west who went missing but was later found dead, decomposed and partially burnt pleaded for bail before the Molepolole Magitsrates’ Court this week.
The deceased Toffinah Letonkane was last seen on February 10th, 2024, after she left her residence in Keng never to return.
The suspects, one of them the murder victim’s boyfriend 30-year-old Kegomoditswe Motsumi and his friend Walter Moyo, 31, have been remanded in custody for a period of one month following their arrest on February 22nd, 2024.
Opposing the two men’s bail application, the investigating officer Detective Assistant Tshupetso Mokgopa said, “Murder is a serious offence that can attract serious punishment, I haven’t rounded up all the witnesses, some are in Keng a far flung village while others are in Khonkhwa and Gaborone.
However, Moyo’s attorney argued that his client cooperated well with the police since he handed himself over when they wanted him and surrendered all his cellphones without any difficulties.
Bail ruling was to be heard yesterday, Thursday (March 28th, 2024).
