School pumps support into communities for social impact
The Imperial School of Business and Science (ISBS) has announced the integration of community support initiatives into its operations, focusing on education access, child welfare and support for vulnerable groups as part of its institutional mandate.
The private tertiary institution provides ongoing assistance to several social causes, including monthly sponsorship of a house at SOS Children’s Village and support to Monax Shelter, which caters to elderly residents.
According to ISBS, these initiatives are structured as long-term commitments rather than once-off donations.
ISBS Managing Director Nidheesh Sharma said the institution views its social programmes as directly linked to its role in developing human capital. “Education institutions have a responsibility that goes beyond classroom instruction,” Sharma said. “Our focus is on sustained support that contributes to long-term social outcomes.”
The institution also works with schools across the country, supporting prize-giving ceremonies at more than 20 senior secondary schools each year. The programme is intended to recognise academic achievement and encourage progression to tertiary education. ISBS has also provided assistance to selected primary schools, targeting early learning support.
In addition, ISBS runs an annual scholarship programme offering fully funded tuition to selected students who are unable to afford tertiary education. The scholarships are awarded on merit and financial need, with beneficiaries enrolled in BQA-accredited programmes offered by the institution.
ISBS has operated in Botswana for more than 20 years and offers programmes in business, accounting, information technology and related disciplines. Its community initiatives operate alongside its academic programmes and are funded internally.
As Botswana places increasing emphasis on skills development and inclusive growth, private education providers such as ISBS are expanding their involvement in community-based programmes that link education to broader social outcomes.
