Two habitual thieves who broke into a house and stole a stove will be dining in on prison food for the next few years.
Dishing out hot justice this Tuesday, Francistown Magistrates Court saw fit to send Thabo Khupe, 46, and Hide Chisamaba, 27, to the slammer.
Handing out differing punishments to the two Zimbabweans, who both have previous convictions for theft, court sentenced Khupe to a total of two years in prison.
There was nowhere to hide for Chisamaba either.
The young man, who according to court papers is no stranger to the inside of a cell having first been locked up for house breaking as a 14-year-old, was told he will spend the next four years and eight months behind bars.
The duo, who were in the country illegally, admitted breaking into a dwelling in Selepa on 29 April and making away with a four-burner gas stove worth P1, 500.
It was heard the said house had remained unoccupied ever since the lawful owner’s death ‘a long time ago’.
The burglary took place in the middle of the day and was witnessed by neighbours.
Although neither men will taste freedom for quite some time, they displayed little emotion, remaining remarkable calm as they were carted off to prison.
