A woman who allegedly stabbed a man with a knife during a fight at a local shebeen is living in fear of possible revenge.

Appearing before Maun Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 28- year- old Gosaitse Dode, who two weeks ago was granted bail for the alleged offence, said since the complainant, Reverence Poloko, 40, was released from hospital last week, he has displayed characteristics of somebody seeking revenge.

“This man that I fought with is stalking me. He passes by my house all the time looking for me,” explained Dode.

Last month, Dode and Poloko, who were both drunk, fought at a shebeen and Poloko was stabbed. Although Dode insisted she was not the one who inflicted the unlawful wounding, she was charged for the offence and brought before court.

The matter has not yet gone for trial as the prosecutor maintained it was a fresh issue.

This week Dode returned to court to seek protection against her alleged victim whom she maintains is emotionally tormenting her.

Pleading with the court to intervene, Dode revealed she fears for her life and that some days she absconds from work in a bid to hide from Poloko.

Addressing the court, the prosecutor, Sergeant Mmoloki Boshati confirmed that indeed Poloko has been discharged from the hospital.

“The victim in this matter has been released from hospital however he is still attending regular checkups. He is not completely healed; he had indicated that he is still struggling with chest pains,” revealed Boshati.

On the status of investigations, Boshati said they have interviewed all possible witnesses and are currently waiting for the statement of the Investigation Officer (IO).

Magistrate Keneilwe Kgoadi advised Dode to liaise with the prosecutor and the IO and further apply for a restraining order if the situation worsens.

The matter has been set for September 2nd for status update.
