Duo arrested for man’s murder
Murder reared its ugly head in Francistown last weekend, sending Ghetto’s Colored location a deadly shade of red.
According to residents in the area, 35-year-old Bamilidzi Thandezele was ‘stabbed and slashed’ to death on Saturday 31 October.
“I heard a slasher and knife were used,” claimed a source from Colored.
Dirang Izekiel Stephen, 34, and Tshepang Mange, 35, were arrested shortly after the incident.
The duo appeared before Francistown Magistrate Court last Monday charged with Siviya native Thandezele’s murder.
Sporting a white bandage wrapped around his forehead, Mange and his co-accused, Stephen, displayed little emotion during their court appearance, listening in sullen silence as they learnt they would not get bail.
This was after the Prosecutor, Mangisto Chigala, successfully secured the suspect’s remand, telling court investigations were still in the infancy.
“This is a fresh matter that happened over the weekend. Tempers of the society are still high so it will be better with the accused remanded to protect them from the societies anger,” argued Chigala.
Meanwhile, when reached for a comment this Tuesday, Central Police Station Commander, Lebalang Maniki admitted the cops were yet to establish exactly what transpired between the deceased and the accused.
“The matter is still under investigations so there is nothing much to say. I can only confirm that a sharp object or instrument was used. We do not know whether there was a fight or not,” stated the top cop, adding this was the second murder case registered at his station since the start of the year.
“The first one happened in October at Monarch location,” revealed Maniki.
Stephen and Mange are due back in court on 19 November.
