• Police complete investigations in four months, commit case to high court
The evil actions of a young woman who killed her boyfriend’s four–year-old daughter are about to catch up with her as her murder case is about to be committed to the High Court.
Tonota residents were left in shock and sorrow after the 22- year- old step mom, Mpho Tebogo ‘killed’ Ashantie Kholhilwe beginning at the beginning of May by hitting her against the wall until she collapsed.
Four months after her demise the case is already being committed to the upper court for trial.
“The investigations in the matter are complete so we are waiting for the letter to be typed so we can take the matter to the High Court,” said State Prosecutor Kenneth Edward in court on Tuesday.
Looking uncomfortable in the dock, the accused, Tebogo said she had nothing to say.
Allegations are that Tebogo had a tendency of abusing Kholhiwe. Neighbours have alleged that on the night the child died, they saw her step mom brutalising her and reported the matter to the police.
The boyfriend and father of the child found her unconscious and rushed her to Tonota clinic where she was referred to Nyangabgwe Hospital where she was certified dead.
