Young Clifford Mochocho would have been 18-years-old by now, but his life was cut short at the age of eleven, with overwhelming evidence of his murder pointing to the father’s girlfriend, Gaofenngwe Selaolo.
Seven years after the widely publicised murder that sparked a nationwide fury, the murder trial against Selaolo has been set for June 6th, 7th, and 8th before Justice Matlhogonolo Phuthego of the Lobatse High Court.
Gaofenngwe Selaolo is accused of killing the little boy who was then a standard six pupil at Bosele Primary School.
Mochocho was reported missing by his father, Louis Masimba, after he failed to come back home from school on March 2nd, 2016.
Selaolo who had been in an on and off relationship with Masimba was later arrested on March 13th 2016 after police were informed that she was the last one to be seen with the young boy.
After a lengthy search Mochocho’s body was exhumed at a hill near Selaolo’s home village Mmankgodi on April 12th 2016, allegedly with the help of Selaolo.
Court heard that the accused led the police to a bush, near Mmankgodi, where she allegedly killed and buried her boyfriend’s son in a shallow grave.
The lead Investigating Officer, Detective Senior Superintendent Sergeant Marapo confirmed that more than 10 state witnesses are expected to testify.
