Business Botswana (BB) has this week entered into a partnership with Botswana Export Credit Insurance (BECI) to work together in several ways.
BB’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Norman Moleele explained that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to provide a collaborative framework within which both organizations will identify mechanisms for aligning organizational activities, information and resource sharing.
“This will not only greatly enhance the two organizations relationship; it will also be a very productive movement for the private sector,” said Moleele.
Moleele said the private sector through Business Botswana has been instrumental in improving the doing business and competitive environments and believes having BECI on board will strengthen the institutional relations and capacity building through cooperation.
He said through the agreement the private sector body intends to enhance the private sector’s ambitions to truly become an engine of growth.
“We are therefore confident that with this partnership, the private sector will take on the responsibility of contributing more effectively to the country’s sustainable growth,” said the Business Botswana boss.
Some of the areas that Business Botswana will work with BECI on include extending relevant initiatives organized by BB, its membership, or partners to provide solutions to local exporters, manufacturers, and service providers to meet export funding problems through the exchange of technical expertise, knowledge, and training opportunities.
The agreement will also facilitate BECI’s advocacy initiatives targeted at the private sector for reachability and reception.
For his part, BECI General Manager, Cowell Habana said the two organizations have enjoyed a long standing relationship which has existed informally since the inception of BECI in 1996.
“This is a commitment of our alignment to Business Botswana mandate a key chamber of commerce of Botswana,” said Habana, stressing that the need to elevate the relation is evident through the signing of the agreement.
