SUSPECT: Molefe has been charged with murder

Police in Mogoditshane are investigating a murder case after a 31-year-old woman from Pitsane Village, Gomolemo Methole, was found dead in her rented house on Sunday morning.

Confirming the incident, Mogoditshane Station Commander, Mbiganyi Letsholathebe, said they received a report from the deceased’s neighbour, who discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood.

“Officers rushed to the scene and found that the victim had been stabbed with a sharp object, believed to be a knife. She was taken to Nkoyaphiri Clinic, where she was certified dead,” revealed Superintendent Letsholathebe.

Police investigations swiftly led to the arrest of one Ronald Molefe, a 39-year-old man from Kopong, who is believed to have been the deceased’s boyfriend.

Molefe was residing in the same yard as the deceased and the neighbour who reported the incident.

LATE: Methole will be laid to rest this weekend

The suspect appeared before Broadhurst Magistrates Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody until August 21, when he is expected to appear again.

The top cop further confirmed a post-mortem examination has already been conducted and the deceased’s body handed back to her family for funeral arrangements.

Reaching out to Methole’s loved ones, her visibly distraught aunt, Nancy Sekgopi, told The Voice that the family is struggling to come to terms with the sudden, devastating loss.

“We are going through a traumatic and shocking time as a family. Our daughter was still young, and we had so many hopes for her,” said Sekgopi, her voice heavy with grief.
