Urban customary court has issued a warrant of arrest for a suspected thief after he failed to appear for his court hearing.

The 33-year-old Kabo Nkwe was scheduled to attend court for a hearing where he potentially could enter pleas, but did not turn up.

According to the charge sheet, Nkwe on May 16th, went to Village Super Spar located at Riverwalk Mall where he stole goods amounting to P544.85.

Among the list of the stolen items was a bag of sweet potatoes, Oros drink, chicken drumsticks, Nestle Lactogen milk and smokie rolls.

When applying for the arrest warrant, State prosecutors said the accused appeared before court for the first time on May 17th and the case was postponed to May 31st where the charge sheet would be read out to him.

Furthermore, the Police pointed out that Nkwe failed to show up for reasons only known to himself, adding that they tried to call him countless times but his number rang unanswered.

Kgosi Segametsi Pule considered the application by the State and ordered for Nkwe’s arrest. “This case will not take place today to allow the police to go look for the accused. It will resume when the suspect is brought forth,” she relayed.
