“Ke tla go bolaa ebe ke go tswala molomo ka masepa (I will kill you and close your mouth with feces).”
This is the sinister, potty-mouthed threat Bernard Mpolokang is said to have made on his mother, Margaret Mpolokang’s life during a row at their Shashemooke home on Monday morning.
The 36-year-old was made to rue his wayward words, hauled before Francistown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was hit with a threat-to-kill charge.
Looking slightly confused, and addressing court in an extremely respectful, humble manner, Bernard pleaded for bail to give him time to find an attorney.
Insisting the matter had been blown out of proportion, the suspect said, “It was only a misunderstanding, I do not have any intention of killing my mother and I am the one looking after her.”
However, his hopes at freedom were dashed when Investigating Officer, Thapelo Keolebogile, noted it would be irresponsible of court to let Bernard go free as he might carry out his threat.
The IO got his wish and Bernard was remanded in custody, with his next court appearance set for 11th September.
