MAN JUMPS TO HIS DEATH FROM 28TH FLOOR
Business came to a standstill at the heart of the Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday during lunch hour-when a man (names known to this publication) jumped to his death from the 28 floor.
When The Voice reporters arrived at the scene, the man, a teacher by profession had jumped and killed himself barely 10 minutes earlier.
Scores of curious onlookers had already flocked the Itowers area to satisfy their morbid curiosity.
The 35-year-old man was still lying on the floor, face down and badly damaged, blood splashed all over the floor and police trying to prevent members of the public from taking photographs.
According to a source, the man had been on the 28th floor at a popular restaurant for sometime before he jumped.
“I don’t know why he jumped. I don’t know him but I have seen him a couple of times. He just jumped. It was horrifying. I wish I could unsee it,” said an eyewitness.
This incident was confirmed by Borakanelo Police Station commander Amos Solomon.
Interviewed at the scene Solomon said, “The matter is still fresh. As you can see, we don’t have a lot of details but I can confirm that we indeed received the report that a man had jumped from one of the high buildings. At this point we don’t know who he is and where he comes from or what was wrong. He jumped from a restaurant on the 28th floor,” said Solomon.
Concerning those who take pictures and videos of crime scenes, the Police boss issued a stern warning.
“We have seen people taking pictures and videos for social media and this is against the law. We should let the Police do their job,” he said.
