Extension Gunners Head Coach, Thabo ‘Mahala’ Motang, believes that his club can still beat the odds and survive relegation.
The Lobatse giants would have to pull one of the most remarkable escapes if they are to retain their league status.
Currently, Motang’s charges are rooted at the bottom of the log with an underwhelming 10 points from 19 games, but with still 33 points to play for.
Their precarious position was further compounded by the 1-0 loss to Eleven Angeles last Saturday, a team they defeated with a similar margin in the first round.
However a defiant ‘Mahala’ still believes, the situation can be salvaged.
“I still believe we can avoid relegation. There gap between us and the team on the eight spot can be closed down,” Motang defiantly said.
Police XI are a the team on the 8th spot with 25 points, a 15 point gap between them and Gunners.
With only eight points separating the bottom five teams, the former Township Rollers coach believes there’re still enough matches remaining for ‘Mapantsula’ to execute their escape plan.
The legendary keeper has urged the Gunners faithful to rally behind their team, and to maintain their high spirits.
“We should never panic, but must maintain our resolve. Panic will only add pressure to the already existing strain caused by our poor results. We have to keep going and our luck will strike,” Motang said rather unconvincingly.
