Hospital superintendent forgives abusive ben 10

FORGIVING: Dr Mokotedi

Letsholathebe memorial hospital’s superintendent, Dr Lebogang Mokotedi has withdrawn a domestic violence case against her “ex-boyfriend” out of forgiveness.

Appearing before Maun magistrate court on Tuesday this week, the 44-year-old Dr Mokotedi stated that since the Bible teaches people to forgive, she was extending the same gesture to her former younger lover, 30-year-old Pabalelo Babusi.

“I have come to request the court to withdraw the complaint that I made against him. I believe he committed it in anger and it was the first time he acted that way. I have just taken an oath on the Bible that encourages us to forgive others so I have forgiven him,” Mokotedi told court.

Last month Mokotedi reported Babusi for assault common and malicious damage to property after he allegedly caught her cheating with another younger man at a local hotel and went berserk, accusing Mokotedi of cheating.

Babusi who is said to have cohabited with Mokotedi for a long time at her house in Chobe ward in Maun is said to have hit the hotel door and drove the woman’s car into the alleged new lover’s car and as a result caused damage to both vehicles.

The alleged new catch who is a married man however did not press any charges.

Nonetheless, the investigating officer insisted that for Mokotedi to end up at the hotel was because she was running away from Babusi who was in the habit of abusing her.

He told court that the two lovers ended that volatile affair which had spiraled into verbal and physical abuse three months ago, March 2021.

He added that Babusi moved into a spare bedroom as a temporary arrangement to allow him time to find an alternative home, but that the quarrels continued between the two even under the new sleeping arrangements.

The court granted Mokotedi her request and stamped the case off the roll “with prejudice to the state.”
