The City of Francistown Mayor, Godisang Radisigo, has warned the inhabitants about the ever-rising cases of Covid-19.
Speaking at a Full Council Session on Monday about the current transmission rate that has led to the city’s status turning to red, a concerned Radisigo said it was upon the city’s populace to stop the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus.
The Mayor warned that the winter season poses a danger on its own as it is during this time where people are susceptible to respiratory infections such as coughs and flue.
“Let us continue to be vigilant and adhere to the Health Protocols in order to curb the spread of the disease especially since we are now in the cold season,” he said.
Radisigo strongly condemned what he termed risky wayward behavior displayed by some residents in the city.
“We continue to view video footage on social media depicting disturbing behaviour that could aggravate the spread of the disease. I appeal to all of you to strongly discourage this wayward behaviour,” said the Mayor.
He further revealed that the cumulative number of cases is 8192 with 699 active cases.
“Our isolation facilities have 256 patients and it is unfortunate that the number of deaths stands cumulatively at 86,” revealed Radisigo.
