Shaya
TIME OUT: Sleeping giant at Last Man Standing

MAN DOWN!

Fun was had at Last Man Standing festival over the weekend and I guarantee that Shaya was at the centre of it.

Despite a late start, sound glitches and disgruntled patrons in the VIP section complaining of lack of booze, the event was quite tasteful.

Goodness, who will ever forget Cassper’s epic tantrum? I’m glad Batswana did not let that spoil the mood! However, what Shaya found slightly ironic was that while Vee was celebrating being the last man standing, quite a few were totally knocked out by the end of the show and unable to stand.

Security at the National Stadium was super tight though so I hope these partiers were safe and eventually made their way home.

MISA MAYHEM

According to wicked whispers within the media fraternity, MISA’s National Director, Tefo Phatshwane is likely to find himself out of a job by the end of the week.

News reaching Shaya is that some of the institute’s committee members were dead-set against inviting Minister of State President, Kabo Morwaeng and Minister of Trade and Industry, Mmusi Kgafela to officiate at the recent MISA Awards.

Apparently the committee feel the whole thing was turned into a government event.

Shaya is watching this space with interest.

WELL DONE COSBOTS

Shaya has been following copyright enforcer’s COSBOTS in their attempts to get local DJs signed up and licenced to play artists’ music.

I’m pleased to say the majority are abiding and registering with the society.

Although the exercise started on a low note, CEO Letlhogonolo Makwinja and his team should be given a pat on the back for a job well done.

Shaya hopes the stragglers hurry up and get their licence – I mean it’s only P1, 000 and even less for rural DJs, who have to pay P500.

If not, they risk being shut down in the middle of their playlist during the festive season; imagine how embarrassing that would be!
