FUNNY MAN: Boldwill

29-year-old Tebogo Boldwin Mathibela has made his name in the entertainment industry.

The stand-up comedian, who goes by the alias Boldwin Bals, began as a resident comic at President Hotel before relocating to Tlotlo Hotel and finally his current station, Black Restaurant.

Boldwin is also a sought after voice-over artist and of late has been a regular host for The Voice Lockdown sessions.

Q. What is the biggest challenge you face as artists?

The challenges that we are facing is not being paid what we are worth; people want us to offer our services for peanuts!

Q. What did you find the most difficult aspect of the Covid-19 lockdown?

I need a live audience; I need to see the crowd! Although I tried an online show, the response has been different from that of a live audience.

Q. Once things get back to ‘normal’, what will be the first thing you do?

When things go back to normal, I am going to try do a one-man show.

I miss performing in front of my fans.

Q. If you were to travel, where would you go?

I would go to the city of Liverpool and watch my favourite [football] team, Liverpool FC.

Q. Given the chance to meet the President, what would you request?

I would ask him to borrow me Btv, just for a week.

Q. Who do you thing should be inducted into the Hall of Fame for arts and the creative industry?

Rib Cracker should be inducted into the Hall of Fame – he introduced me to comedy!

Q. Who is your role model and why?

My parents are my role models.

They been supporting me since day one and they even attend my shows.

Q. What advice has your girlfriend ever given you that you ignored but later realised was sound advice?

My girlfriend? I have been single all my life!
