*Disgraced artist condemned for rape
Afro-pop musician Gibson Matlakala, popularly known as Smarh has been sentenced to a 10-year jail term for the rape of his helper on 11th November 2020.
The father of two was condemned to the slammer last week by Letlhakane Senior Magistrate Gloria Motlhagodi last week.
Giving testimony during trial, the victim said she was attacked by her then employer while she was cleaning the kiddies room.
She said just two months after she was hired by Matlakala and his girlfriend, the musician began to show his evil intentions.
The ‘Ndobolo’ hitmaker was accused by his house helper of indecently exposing himself to her.
“He’d caress my body and rub his body against mine, and saying he liked my body structure.”
The victim told court that Matlakala then developed a habit of always walking around in a towel as soon as his girlfriend left the house.
She said one day while she was still cleaning the children’s room Matlakala walked in, wearing nothing, but a mini towel covering his essentials.
Uncomfortable, she then left to go to the storeroom.
The disgraced singer followed her, undressed her, inserted his finger into her private parts, and then penetrated her without her consent.
