Man accused of killing girlfriend in front of her children

IN CUSTODY: Mogale

A Molepolole man has been remanded in custody for allegedly shooting to death his defenceless girlfriend in front of her two children at Mahetlwe village.

Charged with a single count of murder, Daniel Mogale (38), appeared in shackles before a Molepolole Magistrates court last Friday for the brutal murder of 33-year-old Rosinah Amos.

On the fateful morning, neighbours are said to have heard a gunshot followed by sharp screams by the terrified children who watched helplessly as their mother’s body lay lifelessly in a pool of blood.

Mogale had allegedly used a knife to slit his girlfriend’s throat before shooting her at close range on the head with a modified pellet gun.

In court, State Prosecutor- Inspector Thema Marumolo, said investigations into the matter were still at initial stages as the post-mortem was conducted the same day.

“The investigating officer in the matter was supposed to be in court to address the issue of bail. But he has had to go to Gaborone for post-mortem. He will address the court in the next sitting,” explained Marumolo noting that the offence was serious as the maximus sentence was capital punishment and that it needed to be thoroughly investigated.

Mogale refused to speak when he was given the chance and he is expected back in court on February 8th, 2021 for mention.
