Ghetto gear up for Christmas

Since the start of the month, Ghetto’s malls have been packed with Francistowners buying clothes, presents, and food in preparation for the festive holidays.

Last year, Covid-19 ensured there were no glitzy parties, football matches, gifts exchanged, and dikgwaere.

Travel between zones was banned, as the Grinch did steal Christmas for many.

Although the pandemic remains, with Covid cases once again on the rise, it seems the second city is in no mood to be denied again.

Desperate to make up for lost time and celebrate Christmas 2021 in full force, this is what the people have planned.

I will be at Nkange village with my brothers and will see what to do these holidays.

What I know for sure is that during the day we will be watching football on the grounds.

That is the chance where we get to meet our long-lost friends.

I hear there will be so many weddings as well so it will be a happy holiday.

On the 22nd I will be going to the Born and Raised music event in Serowe.

From there I will be going to the farm with my family where we’ll be preparing good meals and enjoying the breeze.

I am excited because last year I was stuck in Francistown as I was not allowed to travel to other zones.

I cannot wait to sit next to the big fire listening to different stories from my cousins and also playing music and dancing.

It’s gonna be great!

It is that time of the year when I meet with my loved ones and catch up.

On the 23rd I will be at Themashanga as we will be having a family gathering.

We will be busy because goats and many meals will be prepared.

We will also be going to the river to chill and forget about town life for a while, taking pictures and just generally relaxing after a tough year.

I am happy that I will be with my children, cooking for them and bonding.

During the day will be going to watch football on the grounds and in the evening the roads will be leading to the river where nightcrawlers will be gathered for music and drinks.

We are going to slaughter a goat to eat with my siblings and children.

We will try to make up for the time we did not have last year.

After these two festivals, I am going to my village Mapoka to meet with the family and have a good time with them.

We have planned a big get-together and it will be nice as there will be music and dancing, with plenty of food; it will be good times galore!

At night I will be going to the clubs to have fun with friends.
