I’m aware of the media speculations concerning my purported move to Egyptian giants Zamalek. I have just arrived in the country from an intensive training session in Pretoria and still have to meet with my employers to discuss any possible moves. As of now there is nothing to say; however if such an opportunity comes I will grab it with both hands like any other player. What is important however is for Chiefs supporters to understand that I’m still contracted to the club and any move that I make would be sanctioned by Centre Chiefs, so hopefully a fair deal for both parties will be made.
There was a flu attack and most players were affected, but we are all ready to play just like some of us did on Wednesday against Kenya. Flu is not a big issue; we are soldiers and can beat it. There is no player who would want to miss the first match of the season; if its’ flu we will fight it on the field of play. Even national team coach has not been well for the major part of this week but he attended to all our training sessions.
Rollers- ordinary game
I don’t want to believe the Township Rollers game is a league decider as many people think. The game I understand would not be played in the evening as it was initially announced but during the day. It is always exciting to face one’s former club, but I have to make it clear that this won’t be Joel against Rollers but rather Chiefs against my former employers, so I won’t put myself under unnecessary pressure. I have said this before; I do not fear any local team not after I played against the likes of Ivory Coast and Tunisia. My life cannot be changed by just one league match.
LOOSING TO PLATINUM
What a game we had against a professional side last weekend! Though it was pre-season it felt great to score against them. I hope the goals will flow into the new season starting tomorrow. That was the first game that we played as a team and we were not looking for a win. The coach was trying certain things and he was happy and adjustments would be made before the league kicks off. I also had an opportunity to chat to former Rollers striker Terrance Mandaza who I played with at Rollers. It was a cool re-union.
The twelfth player
I’m calling on all football supporters in the country to go to the playing grounds to support their teams. The league is a product that needs an input of both players and fans. With a lot of millions coming into the product, the support we get from supporters can mean more millions coming in. We do not need supporters who only come to the stadium hoping that something might go wrong so they can criticize. We want patriotism not hooligans.
