Village Magistrate Raphael Ike has further remanded murder accused Kgomotso Kebonamang in prison on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the 20-year-old Kebonamang murdered Thandi Matlhatsa at Morake ward in Mmopane after having a misunderstanding on February 13th.
It is alleged that on the fateful day Kebonamang and Matlhatsa who were friends went to a bar and on their way back, while in the company of Kebonamang’s boyfriend, had a misunderstanding.
The fight is said to have ensued after Matlhatsa asked Kebonamang’s boyfriend to give her P5.
The matter was temporarily resolved but when the three got to Kebonamang’s house she allegedly went to the kitchen and took out a knife and stabbed Matlhatsa to death.
State Prosecutor- Sub Inspector Galekhutle Mashumba, told court that investigations were ongoing and police needed Kebonamang to remain behind bars until they were finished.
He said they took the exhibit to the forensic laboratory and they are waiting for the results.
“This is a serious offence and two weeks is not enough to complete investigations. We need time to do thorough investigationsd. After registering all witnesses statements we will serve the accused with statements at her next mention,” said Mashumba
The Magistrate ruled that the accused be remand in custody until further notice to allow the prosecution to complete their investigations.
