Police in Francistown are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 34 year old woman in the early hours on Friday.
According to Kutlwano Police Acting Station Commander, Superintendent David Ramoseki, a car with three occupants overturned at around 04:30 about 2kilometres from Tatisiding towards Tonota.
“There were three women. The driver (34) sustained serious injuries and was later certified dead on arrival at Nyangagbwe Referral Hospital,” he said.
Ramoseki said the other two passengers aged 27 and 31 escaped unharmed. “One had minor injuries while the other escaped without a scratch,” Ramoseki said.
He further said although they are yet to establish the cause of the accident, their suspicion is that the three ladies were returning from a night out. “People should avoid hanging out until very late hours of the day. A human body needs rest,” Ramoseki advised.
Meanwhile Kutlwano police are still looking for a Honda Fit driver who hit a cyclist and fled the scene on Sunday afternoon at Block II.
Ramoseki said the driver hit an 18 year old cyclist then fled leaving his car behind. “The victim is currently recuperating at Nyangagbwe Referral Hospital,” he said.
“We are still looking for the driver of the car. Our suspicion is that he fled the scene because he knew he was in the wrong,” said Ramoseki.
