The Department of Meteorological Services have warned of an eminent record breaking heat wave that is expected to prevail on Thursday 07 and Friday 08 January.
Temperatures are expected to reach maximums of between 40 and 43 Degree Celsius.
The heat wave is however expected to ease and see temperatures droping slightly by about 2 Degrees Celcius over most parts of the country from January 9th onwards.
Notwithstanding these, isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur with a temperature dropping effect at some places.
The Department has therefore advised members of the public to take pre-caustionary measures to protect themselves from the adverse weather conditions.
These include, among others, drinking more water regardless of activity level, avoid prolonged stay under the sun as well as protecting themselves from the sun by wearing a wide brimmed hat or umbrella.
