In a bid to grow twerking dance professionally in Francistown in particular and Botswana in general, newly established Club Lagos will soon initiate some twerk competitions.
Twerking, an African traditional type of dance involving the wiggling and gyrating of the waist, is a modified way of entertaining people at hangout joints.
It is against this backdrop that Club Lagos are doing everything within their power to ensure that the dance is recognized in conservative communities like Botswana despite its modification.
Thapelo Alvin Modimoosi, the Marketing and Communications Officer at Club Lagos, the idea is to give local girls an opportunity to explore their talents.
He said the competition rules and regulations will be announced very soon in preparation for the competitions.
According to Modimoosi, local girls will battle it out in Francistown while selecting the best twerkers.
He added that the best twerkers will later come face to face with their counterparts from other parts of the country such as Gaborone, Selibe-Phikwe and Mahalapye.
