Coach at his cattle post
Miscellaneous Football Club technical team is in disarray after their most trusted mentor Teenage Mpote did not return from the Christmas break to prepare the team for the tough second round of the be Mobile Premier League.
According to the club Chairman Oscar Sefhako, the last time they saw Mpote was when he went for national duty in December.
“He was not on the bench in our last two first round matches as he was at the COSAFA Under 20 games. His assistant Otsile Chippa Keolese was in charge of the team and has been at the helm since then,’’ said Sefhako.
Sefhako said that the team started their off season training on the 9th of January 2012 and Mpote failed to show up for training.
“Some of our committee members went to him to find out what could be keeping him away from the training ground and he told them that he was still at the cattle post. Since he earns his living through selling livestock we thought it was better to give him time to sort out his personal issues,” Sefhako said.
The Serowe based club Chairman said they have tried to communicate with Mpote all in vain as his phone was off and up to this day the only information they have is that he is at the cattle post.
“Last week I met with him and asked that we meet to discuss his program for the second round but unfortunately he did not pitch up. The following Monday we were supposed to meet with him and again he was nowhere to be found,” lamented Sefhako.
He said that to his best knowledge they did not have any personal problems with the coach and could not think of anything that could have polarised their relationship.
One executive member however let it slip that Mpote might have been angered by some committee members who wanted him sacked.
“They wanted Stan Mwaanga who was our former mentor and Rollers snatched him and all this was done behind Teenage’s back,” he said.
Mpote took Miscellaneous to the elite league two seasons ago after he unceremoniously left Tasc.
Contacted for comment Mpote abruptly hanged-up his phone and later the phone went off air. miscellaneous Public Relations Officer Solomon Dikgang told Voice Sport that after all attempts to talk to Mpote were unsuccessful they have decided to go ahead with preparations with Keolese as the care taker coach.
