Different officials last Saturday heaped praise on the more than 600 walkers who braved the heat and turned up for the annual Tati Nickel General Manager’s Charity Walk in Francistown.
Speaking at the end of the gruelling 20 kilometre walk Tati Nickel General Manager Ditiro Lentswe expressed grace at their heeding to the charity call.
“I feel humbled by the numbers that have turned up for the walk. I thank you all for your contribution” a grateful Lentswe said.
He went on to thank the main sponsor Mascom Wireless and other companies for opening their cheque books to support the charity event.
Mascom spent close to P90-000 pula on the event whilst other companies, amongst them Barlow World, Metropolitan Botswana, Sefalana Cash and Carry and AT&T Monnakgotla also played their part in making the walk a success.
He pointed out that proceeds from the walk will help continue the work Tati Nickel has been doing to help the less privileged in our society.
Amongst the projects the company has completed and handed over to those in need so far are seven houses in Matshelagabedi, Matsiloje and Matopi.
For his part North East district Commissioner Rapetse Mathumo praised the walkers and said they should be proud of the noble work they had done on the day.
“By taking part in this walk you have made a difference in the lives of many of the less privileged who will benefit from the proceeds of this walk” Mathumo said as he also thanked Tati Nickel for helping in building houses for the needy.
For his part Mascom CEO Jose Couceiro, who was the Chief walker praised the walkers and promised his company will continue playing a part in doing charity work to help the less privileged.
