Music stars came out shining on Saturday night at the Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS) pre-party held at the Stanbic Bank Molapo Piazza.
Show headliner- South African award winning superstar, Casper Nyovest, once again demonstrated why he is hailed the best at the game as he put up a sterling performance after rocking up on stage at 12.30am.
‘Mufasa’ known for filling up large capacity stadiums in South Africa, was the darling of the night and his one hour stage performance had attendants screaming at the top of their voices singing along to the lyrics as he belted out some of his hit singles.
The man who made the phrase “monate mpolaye” during the festive season ended his set with his first single “Doc Shebeleza.”
But before Casper Nyovest took to
the stage it was Botswana’s lyrical genius, Dramaboi, who went on stage and but
against expectations put up a lukewarm performance.
The rapper also known as “Wa Makeishane”
performed for only five minutes and left the stage without any explanation much
to the disappointment of his enthusiastic fans.
The youthful rapper who seemed to
have grudges with event organizers recently broke the net when he tweeted that
people should not vote for him for the YAMAS.
Asked to explain his tweet, Dramaboi told The Voice that he was aware that there are people within Yarona FM who are trying to sabotage his music.
The fifth edition of the YAMAS will
be staged next week at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).
This year the award ceremony will be held under theme Retro 5.
