Goodhope police are investigating the mysterious death of a 30-year-old Sangoma initiate, who died in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Malokaganyane lands.
The deceased who hailed from Ramatlama 600, a South African village near the Ramatlabama border was in Botswana for his Sangoma initiation rituals.
The incident was reported to the police by the deceased’s 36-year-old instructor.
Details of the incident are that the deceased died a few minutes after waking up the instructor asking for matches to light a cigarette and start the fire for morning tea.
A few minutes after that, the instructor saw the deceased kneeling by the fire place for a disturbingly long time.
The instructor then rushed to check on him and discovered that he was not breathing and rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Confirming the incident, Station Commander for Goodhope Police Mogomotsi Kwapa confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
He revealed that the deceased’s relatives have been contacted and are aware of the death.
“The family revealed that the deceased previously had several body operations, and he has been unwell,” said Kwapa.
