ROCKING ON RUSSIA DAY!

Ambassador Korsun (R) with one of the Russian Embassy personnel

The Russian Federation’s Ambassador to Botswana Anatoly Korsun, who is also in my books the most down to earth and hospitable Ambassador after the one and only former American Ambassador Huggins, hosted Russia Day at his residency on Thursday 10th June.
As usual there wasn’t much to look at in terms of fashion, as the invitees usually comprise of close to retirement government officials that worry more about how many cattle they have in their farm than they do about a pair of appropriate shoes-minus the red or white socks and a well-fitted suit.
The environment was a beautiful one in an open garden, though some of the older ladies looked like they just walked out of the 80s Mahomedy‘s catalogue, in their shapeless dresses and suits. What a pity!
To my knowledge the Russian Embassy is the only diplomatic office that seems to have the queen of the Nation, Miss Botswana, as part of their annual invitee list, considering that the girls were seen at the same event last year.

Bubbly Sumaiyah having a laugh with Keamogetse and Bonny

Miss Botswana 2009, Sumaiyah Marope’s tomboyish self is back on board, as the girl rocked up in a new clean brush cut, nice fitting jeans and a spring in her walk. I have never seen her look so happy, free and comfortable in her own space. As I told her, I am dying for a super rocking creative shoot with her model-looking self.
True to her word, the current Miss Botswana Emma Wareus rocked up with her princesses at this do, who brought with them a spark of life and fun to the party, and most evidently smiles on a lot of the male guests’ faces. Though the girls looked fine, one that stuck out the most with her fashionable sense is Bonny Serole. From her Aldo stilettos, Guess handbag, Brazilian weave as well as this season’s latest oversized

cardigan and a puffy-shouldered dress, the girl has it going on. Not to mention that she breeds puppies too, I mean how many local black people do you know that breed Chihuahuas, Yorkshires and more of Hollywood’s latest accessories- the handbag puppies?
