Robbery and rape suspect remanded in custody

Extension II Magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube, has further remanded robbery and serial rape suspect Oscar Venald Chabaya in custody pending police investigations.

The 29-year-old Chabaya from Harare, Zimbabwe, is facing seven counts, four of rape and three robberies which happened in Tlokweng.

Court heard that the accused raped some victims and robbed them of their property amounting to P10 990.

In another robbery case the accused person on the 24th of Mach at Sefoke ward in Tlokweng, robbed Kopo Enosa a black Lenovo laptop, two Samsung Galaxy J2 cellphones, laptop bag all valued at P7320 and P120 cash.

He allegedly used violence to obtain the property.

Public Prosecutor, Joseph Kehakae, told court that investigations are at an initial stage and that they have not yet recovered the stolen properties.

He said the accused committed these offences while on bail. “The accused has a pending case in which he was found in possession of illegal drugs and he committed this rape and robbery cases while on bail. He is also a flight risk as he is an illegal immigrant,” said Kehakae.
