As part of their fund raising events ChainRing Cycling team will have dinner at Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel this Friday to raise funds for Botswana Cancer Association.
The money raised will be used to buy a car for the association. Tickets are sold at P500 individuals and P5000 table for 10.
The dinner will be held under the theme ‘Ride for Pink: The Fight Continues.’ The team will also ride 1000km from Kasane to Gaborone next month to raise awareness.
Speaking to Voice Sport ChainRing captain Thabo Okie said they approached the association to identify their need and they said they needed a car.
He said their target is to have completed their fundraising events by the end of July and hand over the vehicle.
“During the 1000km ride, we’ll have stopovers in villages and towns that we will be riding through to raise cancer awareness. We will be sharing messages like early detection, encouraging people to do regular checkups and the general cancer message with the public. We hope that we will achieve our goal through the support of our community,” said Okie.
He said it is important for the association to own a car as it will assist to run their day to day activities. Okie appealed to the business community and individuals to come on board and help fight cancer.
