A man who allegedly robbed and raped two sisters before bathing them in Gaborone’s Phase II suburb appeared before a packed Village Magistrates court today as angry friends and relatives to the victims bayed for his blood.
Amid the angst and rising tension, 37-year old Joseph Nfila who is believed to be responsible for other similar crimes in Block 8,9 and 10, was escorted to the police van under the knowing glares of other victims who had been invited to identify him.
The suspected serial rapist and robber is alleged to have attacked his latest victims last week Friday but Gaborone West police moved swiftly and arrested him the following day.
It is alleged that on the fateful morning at around 3am the victims, a 36-year old woman and her 27-year old sister had been sleeping when the rapist who was armed with a knife broke into the elder sister’s room through the window after damaging the burglar bars.
The man allegedly robbed the woman of her Samsung S6 Edge cellphone and a Samsung tablet before dragging her to the younger sister’s room where he took her AG and Blackberry cellphones.
The man is said to have then dragged the younger sister to the living room and raped her before returning to the room and raped the elder sister who screamed helplessly.
The culprit who did not use a condom in both rape incidents is said to have ordered the victims to take a bath and when they resisted he forcefully bathed them.
He is said to have then fled with the stolen items that are valued at P13 699.00 and when the police arrested him, he was in possession of the stolen phones.
