Palapye is the place to be this Saturday for the first of its kind in the growing township, cultural summer festival, termed BW Ngwao Summer Festival.
The festival will be held at Nkau’s farm (4U2) opposite Morupule B and the organizers, First Class Events say it will be an annual event bringing Palapye cultures together. “Palapye has diverse cultures but there is no activity to recognise and celebrate this. On top of the many Botswana cultures that converge here we have Chinese and Indian cultures and we want to bring them together to share food and any other aspects of the cultures,” said Refilwe Ngwenya Director of First Class Events.
She added it would be an open event for people to have fun playing traditional music, dancing, games, poetry and drama.
The dress code is traditional attire and those with musical instruments are advised to bring them along.
“This isn’t going to be like your regular festival whereby an artist performs on stage and everybody is watching. Though we will have hired performers such as Poko Setso and others, everyone will be allowed play their own instrument,” Ngwenya further said.
